Our cards can be loaded from €15– €1000, and load amounts can vary. 

This is to comply with Mastercard regulations. As the cards can be used anywhere online or in shops worldwide with no restrictions then they must be linked to an individual.

The fees we charge are inclusive of the cost/admin/postage of the card. Unlike other gift card providers, SWIRL does not receive a % of the funds spent on the card back from the merchant. At SWIRL there is no purchase/transaction fees so whatever is loaded on the card is available to the customer to spend. The price we charge needs to at least cover some of the costs we incur for the provision of the service

Yes of course, we just need a list of names and addresses (preferably excel format), and we can post out directly. Typically, a charge of €1.50 per card will be applied to the order to cover postage.

The gift card does not come with a PIN number, nor is it contactless, it is used the same way as other in-store gift cards and just swiped at the merchant’s terminal for a sale.

There is no yearly fee, however, 12 months after the date on which your card was activated a €3.50 monthly account fee will start to be applied to your card. This fee will not be applied to your card if there are no funds available. In our experience, recipients typically have the funds on the card spent within this timeframe.

Unfortunately, cardholders must be resident in the Republic of Ireland in order to activate and use the card.

Our designated holding account for transfers is with a German bank called Banking Circle who are a partner of our card issuer EML Money DAC.

Yes, SWIRL Gift cards can be used as part of the small benefits scheme in Ireland where employees can receive a bonus of up to €1000 per year. This bonus is a once-off, tax free benefit and does not qualify if given as cash or through payroll but it can be in the form of gift cards like SWIRL.

Cards cannot be personalised. However, we may be able to personalise the attached letter & Instructions with a message from your company. Please contact us directly for more information on this.

Unfortunately, our gift cards are only available in Euro.

Unfortunately, our gift cards only allow one top up.

Once a card is registered, we will be able to locate the card in our system and replace the card free of charge with the remaining balance transferred over.

We have a dedicated Irish Based helpdesk, live chat and email for your staff to contact if they are experiencing any issues using their card.

No, unfortunately we currently do not offer a digital version of our gift card but it is something we plan to have in the future.

Our gift card is a MasterCard and can be used in over 45 million locations worldwide both in store and online. To use in store, you simply swipe the card and sign a recipient there is no chip and pin with our gift card. *While the card can be used at any location accepting of MasterCard, it is up to the individual store if they can accept the form of payment.

The card is unfortunately not compatible with these services currently, but it is a feature we hope to add in the future.

There is a €3.50 maintenance fee that will be applied 12 months after the funds are loaded onto the card, we rarely see this applied as the funds are typically spent within the 12 months.

The cardholder can spend the full amount as they wish with no restrictions or purchase fees.

We can send you a copy of our Corporate Gift brochure which includes some testimonials/customers who have used our card in the past. We can also send you additional testimonials if required. Unfortunately, we cannot disclose our client contact details to new prospective customers.

Most of the reviews are in relation to our reloadable card which is a slightly more complex product. We have an Irish based helpdesk here in Naas Co. Kildare, with a small team of 3 customer service reps who work hard to provide excellent support for our customers should any issues arise.

Yes, we will aim to complete these as thoroughly as possible however sometimes not all information requested is relevant to us.

Gift Card FAQs

The SWIRL gift card can only be loaded once.

You can top up between €15 and €1000.

You can register multiple Gift Cards provided the balance across all cards does not exceed €2,500. If you reach this threshold, you will need to provide photo identification in order to register and load further Gift Cards.

Once the card is registered, you can log in to your account online or in the SWIRL app. You can also text the word “Balance” and the last 4 digits of your customer number to 51155.

The card can be used online as normal, just enter your card details and the CVV. In store, you can swipe your card through the machine and a receipt will print for you to sign.

You can quickly suspend your card via your app. Please contact our dedicated helpdesk or send an e-mail to info@swirlcard.com and we will be happy to send a replacement.

This is no problem once the original payment was made using your gift card.
